| Day 1
Recap With one game remaining in the first day of play at the 2004 ACHA National Tournament, fans have not been disappointed. The first game of the day saw Illinois jump out to an early 3 goal lead before newcomers to the tournament, Washington & Jefferson snuck 2 in to make it a close 3-2 Final. The second game in the tournament was a rough and tumble affair with a fast skating, hard hitting Rhode Island team showing that they deserve their number 3 ranking by defeating West Chester 4-0. The third game of the tournament was just as good or even more exciting than the previous 2. Ohio came out flying, but Arizona State was not going to back down. OU took an early lead, however Arizona Hung close, but not close enough as OU took the game 4-1. The final game of the night was tipping the scales much heavier on one side than the other with Penn State coming out on top 10-1 over Towson. However the shinning star of the game had to have been Towson's goalie who was unbelievable in net as he was making save after save. He saw over 60 shots in tonight's game! Don't let the score fool you he saw 47 shots in the first 2 periods before finally running out of gas. Penn State didn't let anybody down showing they deserved the number 1 seed. This game could have easily ended in a much higher score. |
