Day 3 Recap

This was maybe the most anticipated game of this years tourney. Things looked bad for Minot after the first period with Minot falling behind 3-0. In the second period it looked as though the game would remain the same until a Power Play goal by Minot lifted their spirits. Another Power play goal late in the period tied the game up.

The third period looked as if both team were trying to go to overtime, until another Minot got a Power Play opportunity, and capitalized by scoring a goal that sealed the deal. Final 4-3 Minot.
In the second game of the day, Rhode Island faced off against Michigan-Dearborn. This was a fast paced, clean game that only saw 2 penalties. Rhode Island took the early lead and never looked back, but Michigan-Dearborn didn't quit as they kept trying to fight their way back. Rhode Island put the nail in the coffin with an empty netter with just 22 seconds remaining. Final 5-3 Rhode Island.

The third and best game of the tournament came in the Weber St. vs. Ohio game. In a fast paced up and down the ice game, neither team could crack the others goalie after the first. This game went into Double overtime, when finally it looked like Weber St. ran out of gas and left Ohio's Kubas all alone in front for the game winner. Final 2-1 Ohio.

In a packed house at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, the Penn State Icers easily defeated the host Cyclones by a score of 10-1. On a side note for this game, there was a power outage in the first period, and after that the power went off for the Cyclones as well. The first 6 Icer goals were special teams, 2 short handed and 4 Power play. Final 10-1 PSU
