28E Organizational Meeting
MARCH 21, 2006

 

The SEAT Committee met on March 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Savery Hotel, Room 210, in Des Moines, Iowa. Members present: Pat Gill, Mike King, Peggy Rice, Steven Mandernach, Melanie Gross, and Tom O'Neill. Others present: Miriam Tyson, Secretary of State's Office, Paul Coates, and Alan Vandehaar.
 

First Deputy Secretary of State Charlie Krogmeier discussed the background and purpose of the group. The Help America Vote Act requires training and education to improve election administration. SEAT will provide such training through the training of election administrators and precinct election officials.
 

Nominations for chair were opened. King nominated Pat Gill to serve as chair. Gross seconded the nomination. King moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Gill. Motion was seconded by Gross and motion passed.
 

Gill appointed the following committees:
Budget: King, Gill, and Mandernach
Curriculum/Precinct Election Official Certification: Pat Gill, Vicki Ritz, Renae` McClelland, Ken Kline, Kyle Jennson, Dawn Williams, Marge Pitts, Sandy Steinbach, Melanie Gross, Steven Mandernach.
Membership: Rice, O'Neill, and Rutledge
 

The next meeting will be April 19, 2006 at 4:15 p.m. at the Regency Inn in Marshalltown. The budget committee will present a recommended budget at that meeting.
