Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is committed to the advancement of the civil engineering profession and the individual civil engineer. ASCE acts as a forum for communication among individuals and groups involved in the practice of civil engineering. ASCE also offers a variety of professional development benefits to members of the profession. ASCE headquarters is located at 1801 Alexander Bell Drive, Reston, Virginia 20191-4400, phone (703) 295-6000.
The Iowa Section of ASCE, founded in 1920, exists so that Iowa civil engineers and associates may group together locally for their mutual benefit and professional advancement. The Iowa Section includes Younger Member Groups in the Ames-Des Moines and Cedar Rapids-Iowa City areas and Student Chapters at Iowa State University and The University of Iowa. Marlee Walton, P.E., Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at Iowa State University is the 2008-2009 president.
Iowa State University is proud to partner with ASCE -- Iowa Section to offer these programs to help meet the continuing education needs of its members.
