Iowa Better Concrete Conference
October 30, 2008
The 2008 Better Concrete Conference will be held in the Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus on October 30, 2008
The conference is designed to put you in direct contact with concrete producers, contractors, owners, and designers at the same time to discuss ways to enhance the production or performance of concrete. As an owner or designer you can see first-hand how the concrete option can reduce the cost or improve the constructability of your future projects.
This years' conference is designed to have topics of general interest to all participants to meet individual needs and provide ample opportunities for networking with others interested in using concrete. Both experienced and inexperienced persons in concrete construction can learn new ways to make their work more efficient while providing new uses for concrete construction!
During the conference you will:
Learn how concrete can be used in your next project to meet changes in society views on environment.
Review your knowledge with others in the field on how to build durable slabs on grade from subgrade to mix design to placement and curing to rehabilitation.
See how others develop mix designs to meet project needs and use local materials while maintaining costs.
Do you know what to look for in a mix design submittal? You will if you attend the concurrent session A.
See what is new in concrete innovations such as use of fibers, and bendable concrete.
Hear more about the use of precast concrete and self consolidating concrete applications for in Iowa projects. See how you could be using these products in your next design.
Is your home or business disaster proof? Lean how others have made that change in their business or home.
What does it take to make durable pervious concrete and what has research taught us in Iowa? The answers may surprise you and aid you in your next design or construction project.
Sponsors for this conference include: The Iowa Chapter of ACI, Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Concrete Paving Association, Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association, North Central Cement Promotion Association and Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department at ISU.
