Process Safety Challenges in the Biorenewables Era
image
Thursday, March 13
10am - 3:30pm
Scheman Building, Iowa State University

The ethanol processing industry in the United States had grown from 1 billion gallons/ year in 1996 to more than 7.5 billion gallons/year in 2007. Another 6 billion gallons/year will be added 2008. The biodiesel industry has experienced similar growth. Biorefineries inherently have hazards and risks that must be identified, evaluated, and managed.

This workshop will establish opportunities for individuals involved in biorenewable-based industries to become familiar with:
  • Process safety engineering technologies
  • Process safety management practices
  • Resources to reduce risk, and identify/control hazards in biorenewable-based industries

Who Should Attend? Owners, managers, operators, technicians and researchers for ethanol biorefineries.
