2013 North Central Regional CARET/AHS Meeting
Sunday, July 14 - Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Iowa State University is pleased to host this year's CARET/AHS Summer meeting in in Iowa's capital and most populous city, Des Moines. Des Moines is a major center for the insurance industry and also has a sizable financial services and publishing business base. Forbes magazine ranked Des Moines as the "Best Place for Business" in 2010 and, in 2011, and ranked the city #1 among "America's Best Cities for Young Professionals." During your stay you may choose to enjoy some great local sites: Living History Farms and the Des Moines Botanical Center. You may also visit the Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau website for other area attractions. Or, take an optional tour that will include: BioCentury Research Farm, Dairy Farm, and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

The CARET/AHS Summer meeting offers an opportunity for dialogue on a number of important issues in the North Central Region. This year's program focuses on the "state of politics," social media, STEM programming and how to address controversial issues. The reception on Sunday evening at the Des Moines Embassy Club will provide spectacular panoramic views of the city and State Capitol complex from atop the Ruan Building.

The Monday afternoon program and evening reception will be held in the World Food Prize headquarters. This magnificently restored Beaux Arts space pays tribute to the World Food Prize Laureates and Iowa's agricultural and humanitarian pioneers for their significant contributions to the global fight against hunger and helping to feed the world and improve the lives of others.

We hope you will join us to renew friendships and share new ideas.
