And Scholarship Information
The dates for the 2009 Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute and Academy have been set. The Institute will be held the weeks of July 13-17 and July 20-22, 2009 when courses for clerks and finance certification will be held. The normal Academy courses for re-certification are being held July 22-24, 2009. The registration fee for the Institute will vary by class. Participants will be allowed to register for as many classes as they like during the two-week Institute period. The fee for the three-day Academy will be $48. The location of both the Institute and Academy in 2009 will remain in at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames, Iowa.

The registration now open is for both the Municipal Professionals INSTITUTE and the Municipal Professionals ACADEMY.
The Iowa Municipal Professionals' Institute began in 1975. The Institute is coordinated by the Office of State and Local Government Programs at Iowa State University. It is cosponsored by Iowa State University Extension and the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers' Association (IMFOA).
The purpose of the Institute is to improve the professional capacities of Iowa Municipal Professionals and to provide educational credit toward certification by either the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) or the Iowa Certification for Municipal Professional Program sponsored by IMFOA. Courses at the Institute are conducted by faculty and staff from universities and individuals who are involved in municipal administration. All classes are conducted in an informal setting with ample opportunities to ask questions and share experiences with other municipal professionals.

The Institute consists of courses held in Ames, Iowa, during two weeks in July each year. Participants are exposed to enough contact hours in the two weeks of session to make progress toward certification by IIMC or on the Iowa Certification for Municipal Professionals Program.
