Family Development Certification Training

A comprehensive training and development program designed to empower front-line workers with skills and competencies needed to help families identify and reach their goals for self-reliance and interdependence. The program focuses on achieving healthy self-reliance; building mutually respectful relationships with families; communicating effectively with skill and soul; home visiting; ongoing assessment and goal setting; recognizing a variety of family challenges and accessing specialized services; cultural competence; facilitating family conferences; and exploring advocacy and community collaboration. Options are offered for ISU CEU's, social work CEU'S and college credit.

NEW! A new program has been created that combines Family Development Certification with Partnering With Parents curriculum. "Strengthening Skills in Family Support and Parenting Education" will be offered February 12 through May 27, 2008, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Spring 2008
When: February 12, 13; March 11, 12; April 16; May 13, 14, 27
Location: Marshall County Extension Office in Marshalltown.
Registration Fee: $600 (not for ISU credit)
Course Credit: 4 undergraduate or graduate credit hours (if earning course credit, the registration fee is reduced to $300 and tuition is billed.)
Social Work CEU: Social Work Continuing Education Units are available for a cost of $10.
