      SAMPLE ABSTRACT:

THE USE OF TENURE-CLOCK EXTENSIONS BY WOMEN AND MEN AT LARGE MIDWEST UNIVERSITY.
Bonnie S. Bowen, Large Midwest Univ., Collegetown, IA USA.
We evaluated the use of tenure-clock extensions during the period 2000-2002, when 75 faculty (23 men and 53 women) entered the probationary period. Large Midwest University (LMU) is proud of its tenure-clock extension policy and we found that 20% of faculty used the policy during their first five years on campus.
