ISU ADVANCE -- Transportation

The New Norm for Faculty Flexibility: Transforming the Culture in Science and Engineering Conference will be held in Ames, Iowa at the Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus.

The Scheman Building is located in Ames, Iowa on Center Drive, just off University Boulevard.

Air Travel

Ames is accessed by flying into the Des Moines International Airport (DSM), and traveling 35 miles north on I-35. Major airline carriers serving the capitol city of Iowa include: Allegiant Air, American Eagle, Comair- Delta Connection (ASA), Continental Express, Northwest Airlines, Midwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways. Des Moines currently has 100 in-coming flights daily to meet the travelers' needs.

Ground Transportation

Driving Directions
Ames is easily reached by car using transcontinental Interstate 35 traveling north-south, and Hwy. 30 traveling east-west. Interstate 80 intersects with I-35 in Des Moines to also route east-west travelers to Ames.

From the Airport
Exit the Airport onto Fleur heading west. Continue on Fleur until you reach the exit for I-235. Take I-235 to I35 North. Continue on I35 to the 30West Exit. Go West on 30 approximately .5 miles to the Dayton Avenue Exit.

A variety of rental car options are available at the Des Moines Airport including: Avis Rent a Car, Budget Rent a Car, Enterprise Rent a Car, Hertz Rent a Car, National Car Rental, Thrifty Car Rental, Alamo Car Rental, Dollar Rent a Car.

Airport Shuttle Transportation

Shuttles from the Des Moines International Airport to Ames, Iowa will be provided through University Conference Services for $60.00/person roundtrip. If you are in need of shuttle service to and from the airport, please be sure to register for airport transportation when you register for the conference.

At the time of registration, we ask that you have complete flight information including departure and arrival times to the Des Moines International Airport. Conference registration can be found on the "Registration" tab on the sidebar of this page.

Airport shuttle service will be provided only to and from the Gateway Hotel, Holiday Inn and Best Western University Park Inn & Suites Hotel. For questions regarding airport transportation, please contact ucs-info@iastate.edu.
