Technical Tour Sites
Valley Fig Gas Collection Cover - Fresno County, CA
The Valley Fig gas collection cover is constructed of XR-5 and collects biogas from an anaerobic digester that treats the effluent water from a food processing plant. One of the key reasons for the digester was to reduce the BOD levels in the plant effluent to reduce sewerage charges. Gas from the cover is collected and used to augment the gas used in a micro turbine that generates electricity for the plant

Vintage Dairy Farm - Fresno County, CA
BioEnergy Solutions has successfully completed its prototype covered lagoon anaerobic digester that captures methane from a dairy operation and upgrades it to pipeline quality natural gas. The digester consists of a pond that is HPDE lined and covered with a surface area of about 250,000 square feet for the 2,600 milking cow dairy farm. The project has been showcased by PG&E as the first of many BioEnergy Solutions projects that will assist the utility in meeting it renewable energy goals.

Plans for a third tour of another liner/cover installation are underway. Information about the third tour will be posted on the course website as it becomes available, http://www.ucs.iastate.edu/mnet/linersandcovers/home.html
