Motor Systems Management Workshop
October 11 - Sioux City; October 12 - Johnston; October 14 - Cedar Rapids
The Partnership for Industrial Energy Efficiency (PIE2) is pleased to host the Motor Systems Management Workshop on October 11, 12, and 14, 2010. This one-day course is designed for engineers and managers of facilities that use motors, including manufacturing firms, local governments, water and wastewater authorities, hospitals, and schools.

Motors use more than half of all electricity. Their inefficiencies contribute significantly to expensive peak demand. Efficient motors, optimized controls, improved component sizing and repair, better power transmission, and use of comprehensive predictive and preventive maintenance practices could cut U.S. electricity demand, save motor users and utilities billions of dollars, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance productivity.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
  • Engineers and managers at facilities that use motors
  • Anyone involved in electrical motors maintenance, motor purchases, motor repair, motor management or motors system operation
  • Plant maintenance, operation, purchasing and engineering staff
  • Motor system consultants

ATTENDANCE BENEFITS:
  • Learn how to evaluate and select optimum motors for different industrial applications
  • Record motor tracking inventory and maintenance actions
  • Develop motor repair versus replace guidelines
  • Determine the energy savings benefits associated with using adjustable speed drives
  • Establish an effective motor systems maintenance plan
  • Leverage basic functions of MotorMaster+ software to evaluate motor purchase and repair decisions

This workshop is being held in three locations throughout Iowa the week of October 11, 2010. The course is taught by the Gil McCoy, an Energy Systems Engineer at Washington State University.

Sponsors:
The workshops are hosted by the Partnership for Industrial Energy Efficiency (PIE2). The group is comprised of commercial, nonprofit, and academic partners interested in industrial energy efficiency. In the past several years, the partnership has offered programs such as TAP Steam, the Compressed Air Challenge, Industrial Refrigeration, Commercial Air-Conditioning, Natural Gas Energy Efficiency, and others.
