Colleen Callahan - The E's of Life
Farm broadcaster and motivational speaker, Colleen Callahan of Kickapoo, Ill., will present the keynote address,"The E's of Life." Her talk is structured around how life is not about how "Easy" life is, but rather the "E's" that impact our everyday lives. A few of Colleen's "E's" include:
Envy: Don't let envy get in your way because you concentrate more on the person you envy than on yourself, which only results in wasted Energy.
Excuse: When a winner makes a mistake, he says "I was wrong." When a loser makes a mistake, he says "It wasn't my fault."
Having just completed a U.S. Congressional Campaign, Colleen now brings political "E's" to the presentation as well.
Colleen Callahan grew up on a purebred Hampshire hog and Angus cattle/grain farm near Milford, Illinois. She took ag classes in high school, but was not permitted to participate in FFA (because women weren't admitted into FFA until 1970, and she graduated from high school in 1969). Colleen was the first woman on the Illinois State 4-H Livestock Judging Team and the only woman on the University of Illinois Livestock Judging Team in 1972. She graduated from the U of I in 1973 with a degree in Agricultural Communications. Two weeks after graduation she became the Farm Director for WMBD Radio in Peoria, Illinois.
