SBIR-STTR Second Annual Conference
June 11, 2008 - DMACC/Sodexho Conference Center in Newton, Iowa
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
pic

Innovation is a source of economic development, and the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs represent the largest source of early stage funding for innovative research and development projects - over $2 billion per year. The inaugural 2007 conference was a great success and we're confident the 2008 attendees will find this year's conference just as useful. Conference sessions will include an "SBIR/STTR 101" overview, manufacturing opportunities in the SBIR/STTR programs and universities as resources.

Potential attendees will include entrepreneurs, small high tech companies, small manufacturers, university researchers, service providers, and others interested in learning more about SBIR/STTR funding.
The goals of the conference are to increase awareness of and participation in the SBIR/STTR programs by Iowa companies and to help companies identify other potential resources for innovation and support.
The Iowa SBIR/STTR Conference is being hosted by the Newton Development Corporation (NDC), and Iowa State University Research Foundation (ISURF) and the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (OIPTT). NDC is a private, non-profit organization focused on economic development in the greater Newton area. ISURF and OIPTT work in concert to facilitate and enhance the inventive and creative works of Iowa State University's employees and students, and to transfer these works for the benefit of society. OIPTT offers free SBIR/STTR support services to qualified small businesses across Iowa to help facilitate technology transfer and foster economic development.
