Electric Substation Short Course -- Welcome

Welcome to the Electric Substation Short Course!

The Electric Substation Short Course will begin
with registration at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the Scheman Building on the campus of Iowa State University. The course begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Your registration fee of $725 includes all program materials, lunches, and refreshment breaks.

Members of ISU's Electric Power Research Center (EPRC) may register for the reduced rate of $625.

Subjects to be covered in this year's short course include circuit breaker testing and testing equipment; transformer and breaker failure scenarios, investigation techniques, operations data, and off-line testing; security threats to substations and application of available technology to reduce risk; vacuum processing of transformer oil and associated equipment; SF6 properties and gas handling; application of CASCADE to management and maintenance of substation assets; and station battery and charger design and sizing.
